ASSISTANT SCRIBE

Summary: Give the Scribe the correct scribe sheet for the next dog and write down the previous dog's stopwatch time.

During walk through
Pick up the scribe sheets, two small clipboards, and two pens from Score Table.

As walk through is finished
Work with the Gate Steward to ensure that the scribe sheets match the actual running order. If dogs have scratched (are not running) remove the scribe sheet, mark the scribe sheet "Scratched" and return the sheet to the Score Table. If dogs have moved in the running order change the position of the scribe sheet to match.

Take a look at the scribe sheet, make sure you know where you will be recording the dog’s time.

As each dog sets up on the start line.
Place the dog's scribe sheet onto a clipboard. Before the dog starts make sure the dog and scribe sheet match.

As each dog finishes.
Take the clipboard with scribe sheet from the Scribe and hand over the next scribe sheet on the second clipboard.

Record the dog’s time on the scribe sheet.
With a two-stopwatch system, also take the stopwatch from the Timer at the end of the run, record the time on the scribe sheet, reset the watch, and return the watch to the Timer (you may set it on the arm of the chair or something, work it out with the Timer)

Give the completed scribe sheet to the runner to deliver to the score table.

When a dog has scratched a run, mark the scribe sheet "Scratched" and give it to the Runner immediately so that the Score Table knows the dog is not there.
