Scribe

Summary: Make marks on paper when judge raises hand or calls out a number.

During walk through
Introduce yourself to the judge.
Ask the judge to show you the hand signals for each type of fault (in classes where faults are called).

Ask the judge where you should sit or stand. Most typically you will be seated next to the timer. You must be in a position where you can see and hear the judge at all times.

When the judge calls for first dog on the line in x minutes
Get pen and clipboard with first dog's scribe sheet from the Assistant Scribe.

As the dog comes to the line
Verify that your scribe sheet matches the dog on the line. If you don't know the dog, or they didn't tell you then ask for the dog's name.

During the run
Mark down faults or points as directed by Judge on the scribe sheet while each dog is running.
Important: You must watch only the Judge at all times during each run, never the dog or handler.

Note: Never guess whether the judge made a particular call. If you aren't sure wait until the run is over, then ask the judge. Only the judge gets to call faults, so don't anticipate. Many judges will wait until the dog is some distance from the faulted obstacle before calling it.

The same person must scribe for an entire jump height.
